Mahallat Captain Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mahallat Captain accesses, collects, uses, handles, and shares information when drivers register for and use the app and its delivery services.

Mahallat Captain is published under the developer name Mahallatapp and operated by KHUBARA ALSHABAKAT FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ESTABLISHMENT, referred to in this policy as “we”, “us”, or “our”.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: Name, mobile number, and account authentication information used to register, verify, and access a driver account. An email address is optional and is collected if you choose to provide it during registration or profile editing.
  • Driver and vehicle information: Information submitted for driver registration and verification, including city, identity number, date of birth, gender, profile photo, vehicle details, and uploaded supporting documents.
  • Precise location: Accurate device location, including latitude and longitude, while you are online. This includes location updates collected when the app is in the background, as explained in Section 3.
  • Delivery and communication records: Order assignments, delivery progress, earnings and wallet transaction records, and messages, images, or locations you choose to send through order chat or support features.
  • Device and technical information: Device and app identifiers, device type, notification tokens, app activity, crash reports, and technical diagnostics used for account sessions, notifications, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.

2. Purposes of processing

We use information to create and manage driver accounts; verify driver and vehicle information; assign nearby orders; coordinate deliveries; maintain order and earnings records; send operational notifications; provide support; and diagnose problems and improve the reliability of the app.

3. Precise location and background access

Mahallat Captain collects precise location while you are online to receive nearby order assignments and enable Real-Time Order Tracking, including when the app is in the background or not visible on your screen.

  • Why background location is needed: Real-Time Order Tracking continues while drivers switch to navigation apps, such as Google Maps, or lock their screens. Continuous coordinate updates support live customer arrival estimates and automated geofencing for order arrival detection. Without these updates, tracking would stop when the driver leaves the app screen, interrupting the delivery workflow.
  • When collection occurs: When you set your driver status to online and grant the required permissions, the app obtains location updates and transmits coordinates to our server. Online location collection supports nearby order assignments as well as tracking during deliveries. An Android foreground service allows updates to continue when the app is minimized, closed from view, or the screen is locked, subject to device permissions and operating system restrictions.
  • Who uses location: Our operations and support staff use driver location to manage order assignments, monitor delivery progress, and assist with delivery issues. Location also supports customer-facing arrival estimates. Mapping and address lookup features may send coordinates to Google Maps services to display maps or obtain addresses.
  • Your controls: Changing your driver status to offline stops the online location monitoring service and stops receipt of new order assignments. You can also deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. Without the required permission, online order assignment and live tracking features will not work. Separately, map selection and chat features may access location when you use those features and allow access.

We do not use driver location for advertising, and we do not sell location data.

4. Access, sharing, and service providers

Our operations and support staff access driver location for the operational purposes described above. We also use service providers for app hosting and delivery, mapping and address lookup, push notifications, and diagnostics. These services process the relevant information needed to provide their functions.

The app integrates Google Maps and Google Firebase services. Map and address lookup requests may include coordinates. Firebase services process information such as notification tokens, app activity, device or app identifiers, and crash diagnostics for notifications, measurement, and reliability. Their handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase privacy information.

5. Security

The app uses HTTPS to encrypt information transmitted between the app and our service. Driver location is used by operations and support staff for delivery operations and assistance. No electronic transmission or storage method can guarantee absolute security.

6. Data retention and account deletion requests

Driver data collected through Mahallat Captain is retained and kept by us. Drivers may request account deletion from within the app through the Settings page or by contacting us using the details in Section 9. You may also contact us with questions about the retention or handling of your information.

7. Your choices

You can update available profile information, choose whether to provide an optional email address, control app permissions in device settings, switch offline to stop online location monitoring, and contact us about your information or to request account deletion. Mahallat Captain is intended for delivery drivers and is not directed at children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the app or our data practices. The effective date identifies the current version. Please review the policy available within the app or on our published privacy policy page for updates.
